Tango is walking in an embrace.
Melina Sedó & Detlef Engel dance close-embrace
Tango with a very personal touch. Their dance can
be described as elegant and puristic and while imbedding
modern techniques and elements into the
Tango, it stays close to the roots of the traditional
Tango de Salón.
Melina & Detlef mainly work in Europe, where their
dedication and unique teaching concept have set
standards over the years. They started traveling
worldwide in 2007 and are now giving workshops
wherever people want to tango with sense and sensitivity.
In 2007 they made their teaching-debut in
the USA and performed in some of the most renowned
Milongas in Buenos Aires, like Porteno y
Bailarin and Salon Canning.
Now they are back in New York for workshops and
demos at some of the nicest Milongas. Donʻt miss
them!

always teach private classes together as they want to offer their students both the
view of a follower and a leader.
Rates: Individuals - $90/hr. , Couples - $110/hr. , shared privates (two parties)
60$/person/hr. (plus half of the studio rent)

Saturday, 4 - 5.30: Technique & Bodywork (all levels)
Working with relaxation and tension, fi nding our axis, examining different concepts
of walking and dynamics, working on dissociation and relaxed pivoting.
All the techniques which allow you to stay relaxed while dancing. No partner
required.
Saturday, 5.30 - 7: Elegant variations of the cross (intermediate & advanced)
The cross of the woman is a very interesting and elegant element, if it is not
danced automatically. Why use it only in the 8-count-basic and always left in front
of right foot? We examine the technique of leading & dancing the cross properly,
develop surprising new solutions and explore all kinds of new crosses.
Sunday, 1 - 2.30: Tango Milonguero (all levels)
Discovering the steps of the traditional Milongueros in Buenos Aires: rhythmical
variations of walking, variations of the ocho cortado and more... After this class
you get the approval of every Milonguero in Buenos Aires.
Sunday, 2.30 - 4: Tango con Sabor (intermediate & advanced)
Discover the slowness of the music and enjoy the embrace with the partner. Tango
is not about arriving somewhere but about savouring each little movement in the
process. During this class weʼll focus on closeness, feeling and pleasure in slow
and romantic Tangos.
Rates: $35 for single class, $65 for 2 and $85 for 3 and $100 for 4 classes.
